EAGLE VIEW OF GENDER EQUALITY FROM ONE'S PERSPECTIVE

 I am going to tell you about an incident. Please share if you like. 

The incident is, a year ago, I (I don't say my name) was returning to my home from college as usual. I had to take the same bus tightly to get home from college at almost the same time. A boy almost age 23, was always sitting in the seat.

I would get on the bus from Newroad and get off at the new bus park. That person would go to Chisapani. One day, there were only 8,9 gents are in the bus and remaining were womens. There was no place to go in the back seat. An old man was sitting in the women's seat and a woman was getting on the bus and said, "Oh, this is a woman's seat!""Is that so?" The old man started to stand up. Then the brother in the back left the seat saying, "Sit down." Then he also stood up with me. He was feeling very embarrassed. What happened, brother? When I asked him, he said that he had a problem with his back pain. He said that he would go for therapy as usual.

Due to the peak hour, the traffic jam was severe, it took 45 minutes to reach Lanchaur from New Road. Sister, how difficult it is for me to stand ,please sit on ladies seat i will sit near a driver seat where you are sitting. I have a problem with back pain.The sisters said, "Come on, no matter who is sitting, it is becoming easy for us to talk so much.

The bus stopped and one of the sisters got on the bus and sat on the seat. The brother could not say anything. After the bus stopped at Machhapokhari, I got off the bus. I don't know if he got a seat or not to sit. 

Is it the poor man's inability to help when there is a problem or is it his brother's weakness not to be able to speak well? I couldn't say anything, I reached home thinking whether that brother got a seat in the bus or not.

Even today, when I take a public bus somewhere, I remember the same incident.

We always talk about gender equality but it is limited to that. I think men and women should be equal but must nderstand each other's problems. Everyone should be given equal opportunity. No one should ever abuse their rights one should take path to humanity.
